Port Blair, Nov 04: Villagers of entire Baratang region of Middle Andaman have been facing the worst ever power supply problem since last few weeks due to low voltage being supplied to them by the Electricity department and which has made the electrical and electronic gadgets in their homes redundant. Many villagers have alleged that due to low voltage, electronic & electrical appliances appliances in their houses, like TV, refrigerator, Water Pump etc. have got completely damaged. The people of Baratang region are suffering heavily.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, the former Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang and ex-Upadhyaksh of N & M Andaman ZP, Mr R Alager Swami said that many times he approached the Electricity Department with the requests to resolve the erratic electric supply. However, after repeated complaints, the power supply is restored to normalcy and after a few days the electric supply again becomes the same problematic. As a result of which people of Baratang have been suffering.
The Junior Engineer of Baratang Electricity Department is also not cooperative resorts to misbehavior with the subscribers and people, the residents of the area alleged.
