CHENNAI: The Office of English Language Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Department of State, is pleased to announce the official launch of the American English website: www.americanenglish.state.gov on December 12, 2012.
The website provides a variety of engaging materials and resources for students of English, teachers’ professional development, and resources to use in the classroom – all for free!
This new website makes it easy to find and share materials and resources, including teacher training publications, activity ideas, books, and songs.
The website provides free, high quality, and non-commercial English language learning resources directly to public audiences. It also helps strengthen the skills of English teachers and teacher trainers.
The website also includes access to Trace Effects, an exciting 3-D interactive online video game that explores English language and American culture while taking the user to cities and locations across the United States. Visitors to www.americanenglish.state.gov can play one of four exciting Trace Effects related mini-games online and compete against friends. This video game was designed by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), Department of State.
American English also provides access to information to the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs exchange programs and educational opportunities in the United States, as well as first-hand accounts from previous participants to help find the right program for those interested in participating in an educational exchange.
