Port Blair, Sept 27: In continuation of the several months’ long agitation against the Administration and Dr. B R Ambedkar Institution of Technology, the students of DBRAIT once again mounted a protest this morning at DBRAIT gate and demanded to resolve all the demands regardingaffiliation immediately.
Around 60 students were present during the strike. The month-long protest had moved on the right track and they were hopeful of getting their demands resolved, the agitating students claimed.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha one of the harried students said that on 16th Sept 2022 night Joint Secretary Education, A & N Islands and competent authorities from Pondicherry University gave them assurances in respect of the affiliation with DBRAIT, as the A & N Administration had promised to fulfill all the conditions put forth by Pondicherry University for permanent affiliation with IT Institute.
As per detailsthe Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University had also reportedly assured that the examinations for Degree & Diploma Courses would be conducted soon.
“But after one week, we did not see any action taken by the administration and the University as well, and their earlier assurances in this regard have now turned out to be mere lip service” they alleged.
“From yesterday we were back on our strike and this time we will not listen to bare verbal assurances; we need written assurances till fulfillment of all the demands” the agitating students threatened. However, no officials from the Andaman Administration arrived on the scene to talk/negotiate with the protesting students till the last report came in.
