Port Blair, Sept 26: Ration Rasheed Foundation which has earned fame in A & N Islands for its philanthropic nature and also for extending their helping hand especially to the destitute and forlorn has recently spoken to Andaman Sheekha and said that they have handled many medical cases over the years but never posted them on social media . However this time they need to express gratitude to some of their kind hearted volunteers who selflessly came forward to the cause of humanity.
Narrating the pathetic story of a wretched woman named Late. Mrs. Jaimati Majhi resident of Mayabunder (Karmatang) Mr. MP Abdul Rasheed said that Mrs. Jaimati Majhi had been diagnosed with cancer in the pancreas.
A surgeon from G.B.Pant hospital approached the foundation for transferring the woman to Chennai for further treatment. Since the lady was from a very humble background and was leading a hardscrabble life did not have a Ration Card, and hence it was not possible for her to avail the benefits of Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Under such a lamentable situation, the volunteers of the Foundation swung into action and arranged for her Air Tickets along with her sister. She was admitted in Rajiv Gandhi Govt. General hospital in Chennai with the assistance from the same surgeon of GB Pant Hospital. In Spite of all efforts, Mrs. Majhi could not be saved and she left for heavenly abode on 18 Sep 22.
In such an awful situation, the foundation’s volunteers Mr. Zahid Hameed from Port Blair (Lillypur), an employee of Indian Coast Guard and Mr. Arun Srinivasan from Chennai, the Director of HTC Global Services who had been on their mettle throughout, reached the hospital and helped with all the documentation and procedures to release the body from the hospital. They both performed the last rites of the deceased and also arranged for the accommodation and travel for the sister of the deceased, MrRasheed further added.
Such noble gestures from the foundation’s volunteers based in mainland speak a lot about the bond that the islanders share, the emotive Mr. Rasheed said. The entire team of the foundation conveys its heartfelt thanks to their volunteers Mr. Zahid Hameed, Mr. Arun Srinivasan &Mr. Shaikat Biswas for arranging return tickets.
They also appreciated the humanitarian efforts of Mr. ZainuDeen, Mr. Vinod Bhai (kakoli traders), Mr. Dinesh Singh (kings hotel), Mr. DebalDebdas, Mr. Abdul Shahid for their contribution in the treatment, travel of Late. Mrs. Jaimati Majhi, May her eternal soul rest in peace, they prayed.
