Port Blair, Sept 13: The Hon’ble Special Judge Mr. Raja Chatterjee on 13th September 2022 convicted one accused person namely S. Meganathan, r/o Chakkargaon Village, Port Blair in a rape case committed by him against a minor girl then aged about six years.
It is averred that on 23.07.2012 the victim girl’s parents had been to the hospital for a medical check-up by leaving behind the victim alone at home and on their return, the mother of the victim found the victim crying and there was an injury on her and on inquiry she disclosed that the accused who happens to be the son of the house owner committed rape upon her. Then she was immediately shifted to G.B. Pant Hospital.
The prosecution examined 14 witnesses and the Hon’ble Court after conducting a trial found the accused person guilty of the offence
and sentenced him to suffer 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 376(2)(f) of IPC and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000/- in default further rigorous imprisonment of 06 months. The case was conducted for and on behalf of the State by the Special Public Prosecutor Ms. A.S Zinu.
