Diglipur, Sept 13: The students and residents of Talbagan and Paschimsagar villages of Diglipur Tehsil have raised the issues of errant STS staff and their irregular bus service on their Paschimsagar route.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the students and residents of Talbagan and Paschimsagar said that there are at present four numbers of bus trips on Paschimsagar route made by the STS bus. However, these trips are either irregular or there is unexpected curtailment of trips at other occasions, they alleged. As a result, the school going children have to suffer the wrath of this irregular bus service of the STS Unit, Diglipur they lamented. They also added that the bus reaches the school very late especially in the afternoon to pick and drop the students hereby causing delay in their wards’ returning home. It has also been observed that, the school students reach school at 09.00am while the school starts at 08.30am; thus they are late by half an hour in school due to the bus’ delay, the suffering students’ parents bemoaned. The residents and youths of this remote area further said, “We are troubled by the repeated irregular bus service on our route, and when asked about the trip, we are told by the concerned officials/staff managing the affair that there is no bus on spare to make the trip. Besides, the breakdown of the buses on our route also causes us unspeakable sufferings as we reside at about 32 km from away the main town Diglipur Bazaar with no other transport means.”
The harried residents further said that, whenever they come up with such inconveniences and urges the concerned Officials at STS Office, Diglipur for arrangement of bus trip, the officials are often found shrugging aside their responsibility with mere requests to the conductor on duty to make the trip to which the conductor shows reluctance or at times they straightway denies to perform the duty on Paschimsagar route.
The aggrieved residents of this remote area are going to urge the Administration to impress upon the concerned authorities to look into the matter and the errant STS staff (especially bus conductor) are given necessary instruction to this effect so that they perform their duty with responsibility and at the same time the STS bus service/trips are regularly provided so that the common people and school students residing in this far flung areas suffer no longer, they further disclosed.
