Port Blair, Sep 01: The hazardous condition of NH4 ATR at several places from Baratang, Kadamtala extending to Diglipur, due to careless earthwork has become a menace to the commuters and general public of the area. Several stretches of NH4 between Baratang to Diglipur have become unfit for vehicles entirely.
Regarding the miserable road condition, it was reported that on the night of 31st August 2022, a Cargo Truck travelling from Baratang to Kadamtala was stuck on the muddy surface near Lorozig area of Baratang.
Following this some buses, trucks and other private vehicles were reportedly stranded overnight in the area for approximately three hours. However, the route was cleared by NHIDCL on 01st September at around 07:30 AM.
Consequently, another incident took place on the morning of 01st September 2022 near Bolcha, Baratang, where a Forest Department truck was stuck on the muddy surface for two hours. Later, the truck was removed by the forest department and the road was cleared for movement of ATR traffic.
