Port Blair, Dec 04: A & N State Cooperative Bank Ltd. has organised a function at Shadipur Community Hall for distribution of Cooperative Cards for Door Delivery of Pensions to Old Age, Widow & Handicapped Persons on 04th December, 2012 in presence of dignitaries from Govt. Departments, PRI Members, Eminent leaders, Villagers, Senior Citizens, SHG members, and Media persons etc.
Mr. Aberdeen Blair, Chairman, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar has graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. While welcoming the guests the Vice-Chairman of A & N State Cooperative Bank Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, emphasised upon the need for the introduction of such Cooperative Cards in the Islands giving reasons and told that this is an unique gift from the Bank to it elderly, widowed and handicapped persons.
He informed that apart from introducing pension cards for door to door delivery of pension amount, the bank has also plans to send Doctors to attend the elderly persons at their door steps and give free medical services to them. He further stated that the services of the Nurses will also be utilised to collect blood samples from their doorsteps for further investigations.
He has also informed the gatherings that he is persuing with the Administrator for enhancement of the Pension amount from Rs.1000/- to Rs.3000/- per month. He has also informed that the Bank shall try to complete the distribution of 9500 Cooperative Cards in the entire islands within 31.03.2013.
Mr. S Athirstavel, GM, NABARD appreciated the efforts taken by the Bank in this regard and recorded his special appreciation for Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma who is behind introducing and distribution of such cards and other welfare measures through the Bank for the betterment of the weaker sections of the Society.
Mr. Ravinder Rao, Managing Director of the Bank informed the gatherings of the benefits of the cards and also shown the operational procedures of the cards through electronic machine.
Smt Shanta Laxman Singh, Senior Citizen has expressed her happiness over the distribution of the cards in the islands. In the said meeting The Chief Guest Mr. Aberdeen Blair has recorded his utmost pleasure on the workings of the A & N State Coop. Bank and wished the Bank all the success in all of its future activities. He has also distributed the cards to the Old age, Widow & Handicapped persons. The Branch Manager Smti Jaya S Kurup has proposed vote of thanks.
