Port Blair, Aug 30: Tribal Council Nancowry Island raised various issues before the National Executive Member BJP and Former State President BJP, ANI Mr. Vishal Jolly for immediate redressal of the grievance of tribals residing at Nancowry group of islands.
Whereas the Tribal Council informed that two boats namely MV Galathia and MV Barren were operating to provide services within the Nancowry group of islands. Due to repairs of MV Galathia since last one year, only MV Barren is providing the service which also is in dilapidated condition and facing huge difficulties running the boat.
In this regard, Mr. Vishal Jolly spoke with the Secretary (Shipping) on the matters and requested to provide one vehicle ferry and one normal ferry immediately to Nancowry island to mitigate the situation. The Secretary (Shipping) assured that necessary steps will be taken to solve issues related to the tribal community at the earliest.
