Port Blair, Aug 29: The protesting B.Tech students of Dr. BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Port Blair along with ABVP members today organised a massive protest rally from DBRAIT to Raj Niwas this morning.
A large number of students participated in the protest rally demanding that the DBRAIT should fulfill all the conditions specified byPondicherry University. Students further informed that DBRAIT has notcomplied with seventeen conditions specified by Pondicherry Universityand demanded an inquiry against the Principal of DBRAIT.
Students crossed all police barricades and reached near Raj Niwas in large numbers.
Meanwhile, the Principal of DBRAIT attempted to meet the protesting students but they refused to meet him and raised slogans against the Principal.
It was reported that later students, ABVP leaders along with former Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray met the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration. Eleven student representatives from all the departments accompanied by Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray had a detailed meeting with the Chief Secretary.
After the meeting, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray said that the Chief Secretary has assured students that welfare of students will be the priority for the Administration.
Further, Mr. Sagar, Student President, ABVP, DBRAIT said that the students have received a positive response from the Chief Secretary, who reportedly assured of a detailed inquiry against the officer responsible behind all these.
