Port Blair, Aug 28: The Police team of PS Billiground and Betapur Out Post extended exceptional service towards humanity under the leadership of Mr. Madhab Halder, SHO, PS Billyground.
It was reported that on 26th August 2022, Mrs. Dweepannita Das Gupta, w/o Mr. Sunil Das Gupta committed suicide owing to public insult and physical assault by up-Pradhan and others in GP Harinagar.
It was alleged that since the deceased’s husband lodged a complaint against the PRI members and Market Association, any kind of assistance to the family was denied by many in shifting the dead body from PHC Billiground Mortuary to Hindu Cremation Ground. As a result the dead body was kept lying in the Mortuary till 28th August 2022.
However, later with the help of the Police team, some local residents, women and youths of the area assisted the family to bring the dead body to the Cremation Ground and finally the funeral was performed. The entire aid was provided under the leadership of Mr. Madhab Halder, SHO, PS Billiground and SI S.K.Debnath, In-charge Betapur Police Outpost.
