Fuming traders today questioned the Tally Clerk and the Master of the vessel, according to details, the vessel MV Chuglam left Port Blair on 19th July, 2022 and reached Campbell Bay today after touching ports like CarNicobar, Chowra, Teressa, and Nancowry.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha over the phone, KC Murugan, Secretary,Small Trader Association Campbell Bay said that this is not the firsttime such a kind of issue has been witnessed.
According to the vendors, ration items got spoiled due to the leakages in the Cement bags which were kept with ration items.
“There are other items too but they were packed ones like spices et cetera, hence, those were saved from getting spoiled, but the major items wererice, sugar, wheat flour,” said a shopkeeper.
He said that many times their cargo materials were stolen from ships and even after complaining to the DSS in writing, no steps have been taken yet to safeguard precious cargo of Great Nicobar Island.
“MV Chuglum is one of the ships which trouble us the most in thisissue,” said Mr KC Murugan.“We have suffered a loss of nearly one lakhs and we demand compensationfrom the DSS,” said Mr KC Murugan.
