Port Blair, Dec 02: Advocating for the welfare of the Tribal people of Nicobar District, Mr. Kudeep Rai Sharma, President of PCC today demanded better infrastructure and amenities.
In a letter addressed to the Lt Governor, Mr. Sharma today demanded filling up all the vacant posts reserved for ST in the AN Administration with the unemployed tribal youth and also allow promotion to the Tribal in all such posts which are reserved for ST.
He demanded proper linkage of inter island vessels in the southern group of Islands and to reconsider mainland bound ship to Chennai to touch Car Nicobar once in a month as it were done prior to Tsunami.
He also demanded a tug boat at Car Nicobar for proper berthing of vessels like MV Campbell bay.
Mr. Sharma urged the Lt. Governor for stationing of motor launch and Pantoon at Car Nicobar and for reviving previous rules of allowing free transportation of the referral patients and their attendants to Port Blair by Helicopter and Ships by Medical Dept. He also demanded sea wall in Mus Village.
The PCC president urged the Lt. Governor to allow Nicobaries settled at Harminder Bay to collect their requirements with their area of settlement and to cut trees to construct canoe.
“Community assets like community hall, birth and death house, recreation club for Nicobari Settlers at Hut Bay and the Captains honorarium may be considered at par with the village captain of Car Nicobar,” he said in his letter.
