Port Blair, July 18: The people of RGT road, Machi Line and adjoining areas faced nearly four hour long of power cut this morning from morning 07:30 AM to 11:30 AM. People also witnessed low voltage issues and terrible fluctuation of power. People of South Andaman often seek answers from the officials of the Electricity Department but only receive disappointments.
Later in the evening hours there was a nearly three hour long power cut in Bargat Line, Doctor’s Colony and various other areas.
Islanders wonder why since the last few months the power situation has degraded so much that people are unable to get uninterrupted power supply.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted a senior officer in the Electricity Department regarding the power cut in RGT road, the officer informed that there was a fault in (RMU) Ring Main Unit near MazarPahad which typically takes more time to detect and because it was close to sea shore area it was completely rusted. Therefore, it took nearly 03 hours to open the unit and rectify it and restore the electricity supply.
“Due to this problem transformers of Sinclair area, RK Mission, South Point, JNRM, Machi Line and RGT areas were shut down which was the reason people faced the power-cut problem,” the official added.
