Port Blair, Jul 12: Due to incessant rain on the morning of 11th July 2022, a huge tree lost its grip on the soft soil and fell on a house situated at CIARI area, Chouldari at around 07:30 am. No casualties were reported in the incident.
It was reported that the tree damaged the house partially and no family members were present in the house at the time of the incident.
Mrs. Tapasi Saha, Pradhan, Chouldari and other residents of the area said that there are several trees in the area which are posing danger and requested the Administration to allocate sufficient funds to the Panchayat to cut down all the marked trees in the area. She further requested the A&N Administration to provide compensation to the victim family for the damage.
