Port Blair, Jul 07: The residents of the Kadamtala area at Middle Andaman are facing massive inconvenience due to the poor road condition between ATR and Uttara Corner Road of around 3.5 km.
The local villagers of Kadamtala told Andaman Sheekha Daily that in the last two years, they have protested several times against the miserable road conditions and after every protest temporary pothole patching works were carried out which only lasted for a few months
They alleged that the road was constructed around 08 years ago but due to lack of proper maintenance it has developed potholes and become a non-motorable road.
The villagers informed that after a long demand of resuming STS Bus services in the Uttara Village, an STS bus was provided during school timing on 07th July 2022. They alleged that due to bad road conditions in the area the bus along with other vehicles faced numerous difficulties to drive through it. The residents of Kadamtala’s Uttara Village are now requesting the A&N Administration to immediately repair the road on a priority basis.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. SubrataBasu, ZillaParishad Member, Kadamtala said that the people of Kadamtala are facing numerous problems due to miserable road conditions, especially the school students, aged people and patients.
He said that after a year-long demand for Bus services STS Bus service wasresumedyesterday but due to pathetic road conditions it was very difficult for the bus to pass on it.
“However, on Wednesday we tried to cover the Potholes with our own expenses to ease the driving condition for the vehicles plying in the area”, he added.
Mr. SubrataBasu further alleged that the inner roads of the Uttara village region are not even in walking condition let alone the possibility of motor transportation.
