Port Blair, Jul 04: Mr. M. Vasudevan Nair, ZillaParishad Member, Hutbay has requested the Director, DHS, A&N Administration to resolve some of the issues related to PHC Hutbay, Little Andaman.
In a letter addressed to the Director, DHS, A&N Administration, Mr. Vasudevan mentioned that the Ultrasound scanning for pregnant women is not in use in PHC Hutbay for the last 03 months due to the unavailability of an Ultrasound specialist, who used to visit once a month in the past. He added that many pregnant women are facing problems due to this hence they have to travel to Port Blair.
He also stated that an Eye specialist was posted in PHC Hutbay but the specialist was not sent back to duty post-covid.
He further mentioned that no X-Ray technician is appointed in PHC Hutbay till now after the previously appointed technician’s contract term got over.
“People are bound to travel 16kms away from Hut Bay to R.K.Pur to get an X-ray done even in emergency cases which hampers the well-being of patients,” he added.
He also stated that the Dental specialist has resigned and left PHC Hutbay but a new Dentist was not appointed yet for PHC Hutbay. Mr. M. Vasudevan Nair requested the Director, DHS to look into the matter and resolve it as soon as possible.
