Port Blair, Jun 24: The residents of Nilambur and South Creek areas of Baratang Island are facing immense difficulties due to the frequent connectivity problems of BSNL mobile and Broadband services.
According to the residents, during every Power interruption there is total blackout of BSNL mobile network in the entire Nilambur and South Creek regions due to faulty power backup systems in the BSNL towers of these two villages.
The unavailability of BSNL network connectivity creates difficulties for the general public, especially for the students, officer goes, ATR commuters and tourists. Major problems are being faced during any medical emergency where people are unable to contact for any one for any help.
It was reported that the SBI Branch in Baratang is also facing frequent link failure problems due to interruptions in the BSNL network.
The main sufferers are the people who have to travel long distances from remote villages of Baratang region to reach back at Nilambur area but due to the uncertainty of the BSNL link in the bank, they are forced to return home without any services, which is a complete waste of their time.
Regarding this urgent connectivity issue, Mr. R Alagerswamy, ZillaParishad Member, Baratang has requested CGM, BSNL to immediately send an expert technical team to rectify the power backup issue in the BSNL towers of Baratang Island so that people in the area can get uninterpreted mobile network connectivity during the power cuts as well.
He also requested the CGM, BSNL to look into the issue of the SBI BSNL link problems and rectify it as soon as possible so that people can get continuous bank services.
