Port Blair, Jun 23: A team of three senior leaders of BJP A&N Island along with Mr. Y Satya Kumar, National Secretary BJP and Prabhari, A&N Islands met Mr. Amit Shah, Union Home Minister of India and Mr. J P Nadda, National President, BJP earlier this month.
The team comprising of Mr. AjoyBairagi, State President, BJP A&N Islands, Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP and Former State President and Mr. BishnuPada Ray, Former MP, A&N Islands and Core Committee Member met to raise some vital issues and long pending demands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Various issues were discussed like the Restoration of powers to the elected representative of PRIs and PBMC ward councillors which will help fair redressal of the problems of the general public and proper functioning of elected representatives. Secondly, a very important and long pending demand of Settlement of Katchal Tamil Settlers was also discussed. This issue was dragged on for decades and even after the settlement that was done decades back is now in pathetic conditions. A representation was also submitted earlier but not yet resolved.
Thirdly the issue of exorbitant rates of stamp duty charges was also discussed. Revenue issue of conversion and diversion of land to be immediately resumed as this particular issue is troubling the citizens for a very long time now.
Further increasing the reservation of Ranchi Community was also discussed. The decision taken in recent IDA meetings to be implemented immediately in true spirit was requested by the delegation. Further long pending demands of adequate compensation to Tsunami-affected farmers were also discussed in the meeting.
The constant demand for implementation of the Shekar Singh Commission and Vivek Rae committee was also asked to look into. A one-time relaxation for the constructed building in minor violation of building bye-laws of the PBMC and permitting at least 7 storied buildings based on expert reports was also discussed to bring ease for the general public.
Last but not least a very long-time demand for regularizing of DRMs attached to PBMC against existing vacancies was also discussed. Common day issues like the worst condition of power supply across Islands, resuming the ANIISHI scheme and job reservations for Islanders were also discussed.
A very vital and important issue of categorization of SEBC (Socially and Economically Backward Classes) was discussed with the Home Minister. After giving a patient hearing on all these issues Mr. Amit Shah assured to address all the issues and bring relief to the general public of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
