Port Blair, June 23: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to construct a 100 bedded ‘North and Middle Andaman Guest House’ for the general public of North and Middle Andaman and a 100 bedded ‘Nicobar Guest House’ for tribal brothers and sisters as well as general public of Nicobar District at any prominent location of Port Blair city.
He mentioned that such guest houses will be immensely beneficial for the general public of all remote Islands, where they can stay safely by paying minimum cost for their accommodation.
The Member of Parliament added that G B Pant Hospital being the lone referral hospital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, thousands of patients from all remote Islands are referred to G B Pant Hospital for specialist treatment, every month. For these patients and their family members such Guest Houses will be a real blessing.
In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands the Member of Parliament mentioned at Port Blair due to lack of any affordable accommodation all these Islanders of Nicobar District as well as North and Middle Andaman Islands have to pay heavily for lodging at Port Blair.
He added that many Islanders, including farmers, students as well as small business owners, who visit Port Blair for Medical Treatment, Education, Job Applications, Officials works etc can’t pay such heavy cost of private accommodations and hence they face huge trouble at Port Blair.
