Port Blair, Jun 15: Mrs. AnamikaHalder, the District Coordinator, Human Rights Council, South Andaman has requested the Chief Secretary of A&N Administration for a special arrangement for precautionary doses of COVID-19 vaccine at Little Andaman.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mrs. AnamikaHalderhas mentioned that Little Andaman Island was one of the most affected regions during the peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic and was under continuous surveillance by Health care officials for a remarkable period of time. The people of Little Andaman could be more vulnerable to covid infection, particularly the senior citizens and the tribal community.
She stated that the people in Port Blair and other parts of the country are having the opportunity to obtain a Booster dose of vaccine on a payment basis. But the people of Little Andaman are deprived of such a facility as no one is authorized to provide Booster Dose to eligible persons as per government norms.
Therefore, Mrs. AnamikaHalder, District Coordinator, Human Rights Council has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to make a special arrangement like authorizing an Eligible Medical Practitioner or organize a camp for a short duration at Little Andaman for administering COVID-19 Vaccine on a payment basis for the benefit of the local people.
