Port Blair, May 10: Since this morning total normalcy in power supply has been restored in Little Andaman Island, bringing huge relief for local residents, who witnessed three day long blackouts on 6th, 7th and 8th May 2022.
According to details all three DG sets of Little Andaman had developed some technical glitch in the Control Panel Board because of which there was a total blackout of power in Little Andaman Island since Friday evening.
It was informed to the public that to repair the Made in Poland, DG Sets, necessary spare parts and experts had to be brought from Banglaore. However the biggest obstacle was shifting mainland technicians to Little Andaman by Helicopter.
On request the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka arranged transportation of mainland technicians to Little Andaman on 8th May 2022 and despite adverse weather conditions the technicians reached Hut Bay.
As per details, one 8th May night one DG set was repaired and subsequently two other DG sets were repaired the next day and normalcy in power supply was restored since this morning at Little Andaman.
The residents and PRI members of Little Andaman have expressed gratitude towards the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman for all efforts and coordination because of which the DG sets could be repaired.
