Billiground, May 06: The Villagers and PRI members of Basantipur, Harinagar and Swadeshnagar Gram Panchayats today organized an agitation at Billiground Bazaar, blocking the NH4, against snail pace NH4 upgradation work in the region.
The agitation and road blockade started at 7AM at Billiground Bazaar in front of the Harinagar Vegetable Market and all the vehicles including ATR Express buses were blocked at Billiground till 12 Noon.
Later to resolve the situation Mr. Vaibhav Rikhari, SDM Mayabunder arrived at Billiground accompanied by Colonel Shriram Kelaniya, NHIDCL General Manager.
After long negotiation, at around 12 noon, the GM of NHIDCL reportedly assured to complete the pending works in next 25 days and after a written assurance, the agitation was withdrawn, informed Mr. Manojit Halder the Pradhan of Harinagar Panchayat, Middle Andaman.
