Port Blair, Apr 18: Following the directions of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration during the visit to Guptapara, Manglutan and Nayashahar area various actions are initiated by the Guptapara Panchayat with the interdepartmental coordination.
A week long ward-wise cleanliness drive was scheduled wherein the ward members, volunteers and villagers are coming together and cleaned the garbage spots alongside the road, market area and at major tri-junction.
A meeting was convened by the Sub Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman in this regard with the Pradhan of Guptapara and Sippighat Panchayat to initiate the follow-up actions. After the cleanliness drive, the work of beautification of tri-junctions, same color coding of market area and shops located alongside the road will be taken up.
During the initiatives, overwhelmed response and support were received from the villagers. Panchayat members have expressed the willingness of taking more such initiatives to transform the Panchayat into a Model Panchayat in the South Andaman District.
