Port Blair, Nov 22: A portion of a mango tree fell on the parking lot of Information Publicity and Tourism Department, this afternoon. According to reports no one was injured in this incident.
Sources said that the tree fell at around 11.30 a.m. all of a sudden.
The matter was reported to Fire Services at 11.43 am and within minutes one fire tender reached the spot with firemen. The tree was immediately removed by Firemen, who were equipped with Power Saw Machines.
It has been found that the other portion of the same Mango Tree is still standing inside the parking lot, which may fall on people at any point of time. When questioned a officer of Fire Services told that intimation regarding this has already been passed to Disaster Management Department, as cutting tree doesn’t comes under the purview of Fire Services.
