Diglipur/Rangat, March 27: In an unprecedented incident, a pre-mix coal tar loaded truck belonging to a pvt. company named Vasistha Mantena engaged in construction work of the NH was allegedly stopped by the enraged local residents including the newly elected PRI members of BJP and INC near the Assistant Commissioner’s Office, Rangat at around 10.00am on 26th March 2022.
As per report, the truck was on its way to Basantipur coming from Kaushalyanagar. The irate residents demanded for immediate repair/start of the work of the road starting from Hawamahal to STS Bus terminus, Rangat.
The road is allegedly in rundown condition. In the meantime, the local police appeared on the scene and pacified the infuriated protestors before the situation went out of control. The matter was later intimated to the Project Manager of NHIDCL.
According to sources, Mr. Krishna Raju, Deputy Project Manager of Vasistha Mantena arrived at the spot and met the AC’s Chamber where Pradhans of GP Rangat and Dashratpur (BJP & INC), ZPMs and party workers of both the parties BJP & INC and general public were present.
As the Assistant Commissioner discussed the matter with the Deputy Project Manager, the DP Manager gave a written undertaking to start the road repair/maintenance work from Hawamahal to STS Bus terminus, Rangat on priority from 02/04/2022. After the written assurance, the held truck was allowed to leave the spot at 01.00pm while the agitated mob dispersed without further protest, a source said.
