Port Blair, Nov 21: The two-day Evening Mass Dharna organized by the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands, alongwith other parts of the country on the 15-point Charter of Demands, has concluded today (21.11.2012) evening with a largely attended Public Meeting at Tiranga Park, Aberdeen Bazaar, Port Blair.
Addressing the public meeting, Mr. D.Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Association said that the ban imposed by the Govt. of India on the creation of posts and recruitment in govt. service has adversely affected the local unemployed youths. Referring to the New Pension Scheme, he said that the employees recruited since 1.1.2004 have a bleak future as there is no guarantee that the money deducted from their salary @ 10% will be returned to them on their retirement. The campaign being conducted all over the country will culminate in strike on 12th December, 2012 by all the Central Govt. employees in the country.
Mr. Sadanand Rai, Vice President, Mr. T.S.Sreekumar, Asst. General Secretary, Mr. Gopal Chandra Dey, Mr. Biswanath Mondal and Mr. S.L.Vinjit also addressed the meeting.
A large number of govt. employees participated in the evening Dharna in both the days i.e., on 20th & 21st November, 2012.
