Port Blair, Mar 08: The Counting of votes for Panchayat and Municipal Elections of Andaman and Nicobar Islands was held today in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Although the results of Panchayat Elections are still not clear, all results of Municipal Election have however been declared in which Congress and BJP managed 10 seats each while TDP got two seats, DMK got one seat and the rest one seat was won by an Independent Candidate.
Out of total 24 wards in Port Blair Municipal Council, BJP has got 10 seats, Congress and DMK Alliance got 11 seats but the key to form the council is with the TDP party now, as neither BJP nor Congress can form council in PBMC without TDP’s support.
As per details the seat for the Chairperson of PBMC for the first term is reserved for a woman candidate and of the two winning candidates of TDP in Andaman is a lady, Mrs. Selvi of Ward Number 5.
There is also an Independent Candidate in the equation from Ward Number 23 but at the max she can only play a role of catalyst or lead to a tie in case TDP supports BJP and she supports Congress.
