Yusuf and General Secretary- Sh Abdul Siddique in the presence of Andaman Qazi, Janab Sulaiman Faizi, Janab Abdul Rehman Sahib, Janab M.B. Rasheed Sahib. A large number of various other noted Community Members along with the Executive Committee of AMSO participated in the historic event.

On the occasion, Janab Abdul Rehman Sahib and Janab MB Rasheed Sahib addressed the gathering and briefly threw light on the history of Moplas in Andamans and the described the key takeaways from the past for the present and future generations.
On this day, in the year 1922, the first batch of Mopla Prisoners were brought to these Islands, sentenced to Kalapani for their participation in the historically known Mopla Rebellion against the British Raj in the Malabar region of Kerala. The deplorable living conditions and the severity of the punishment meted out by the Britishers had made life miserable. The occupation of Andaman by the Japanese in 1942 worsened things for the community. Post independence, the community settled in the Islands with their families and worked hard to shape and mould the present day Andamans.
During the event, the 100th Year Celebration LOGO was also officially released by the Executive Committee of Andaman Mopla Service Organization. In the ensuing one year, series of programmes and activities are planned to be conducted throughout for wider sensitization and mobilization of the community.
