Port Blair, Feb 27: In view of the forthcoming Municipal &Panchayat Elections 2022 and Model Code of Conduct in force, Government servants are prohibited to involve themselves in any political activities or canvassing in favour of any contesting candidates.
An incident was reported where a Home Guard Volunteer was found involved in canvassing in favour of his relative contesting the Panchayat Election.
This act of misconduct on the part of Home Guard personnel is tantamount to gross indiscipline and violation of laid down rules and guidelines.
Delinquent Home Guard Volunteer was discharged from the roll of A&N Home Guard Organisation with immediate effect under the provision of A&N Home Guard Regulation, 1964 & A&N Home Guard Rules, 1965.
