Port Blair, Feb 25: Field Outreach Bureau, Port Blair a publicity wing under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Ministry organized an awareness campaign for Pulse Polio Immunisation in association with the ICDS Ferrargunj, A&N Islands on 25th February 2022. It was a precursor to the Pulse Polio Immunisation day to be held on 27th February 2022.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Irine Nicolas, CDPO, Ferrargunj urged all the participants in the programme to make sure that their children get pulse polio dose as per schedule. She said even if no case of polio is reported still there is no scope of complacency as there is no remedy to the disease. She urged all the field workers to make sure that not a single child remains unattended even at the remotest part.
Dr. D Chakrabarti, Medical Officer, in charge of Ferrargunj PHC categorically clarified that vaccination is of utmost importance for a child. He also talked about Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and the need for taking covid vaccines. He hailed the country’s achievement for attaining 175 crores Covid vaccination.
Welcoming the guests and the audience Mr. Sandipon Dasgupta, Field Publicity Officer said that that they are making all efforts to aware people on various issues related to their well-being.
He spoke about Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and the contribution of the A&N Islands to the freedom movement.
The programme ended with a quiz contest conducted by Mr. B. Das, Senior Officer of the I&B Ministry.
