Port Blair, Feb 25: Office of the Director Panchayat and Municipal Elections has received several complaints from individuals, the contesting candidates and Political Parties about the involvement of Government servants from various departments in political activities in the ensuing Panchayat and Municipal Elections.
Instances were reported that Government employees are getting engaged in disseminating content related to Political Parties and posting Election propaganda material on social media and are directly/indirectly involved in campaigning.
It is brought to the notice that it is against the Model Code of Conduct and CCS (Conduct) Rules for Government servants to indulge in any form of political activities.
As a statutory warning, all Government servants are cautioned that strict disciplinary and Penal action against such government employees will be taken if found campaigning or getting involved in the affairs of any Political Party or candidates in the Election.
It was advised that all the government servants should desist from any Political involvement and maintain absolute integrity and devotion to their duty.
