Port Blair, Nov 20: 27th Foundation of IGNOU was celebrated with pomp and gaiety at the Regional Centre Port Blair on 19th November 2012. On the occasion Dr. J S Manhas, Coordinator, IGNOU Study Centre, Port Blair gave the foundation day talk. Dr. R S Baghel, Assistant Coordinator, IGNOU Study Centre, Port Blair was the special guest for the function.
The function organised by the Regional Centre Port Blair of IGNOU was attended by staff of IGNOU Regional Centre & Study Centre. Speaking on the occasion, the Regional Director I/c Dr Kasturi S Pesala gave an account of the National Open University and its growth and travel through the last 27 years of its establishment. The role and commitment of the Regional Centre for the Human resource development in times to come was presented on the occasion. Chief Guest Dr. J S Manhas while lauding the role of IGNOU expressed the importance of IGNOU in the national Human resource Development and also guided the staff for giving better Student Support Services in the years ahead.
He also lauded Regional Centre’s efforts in increasing the enrolment of learners in different courses over the years and expressed his happiness to be a part of the IGNOU family. Dr. R S Baghel, enlighten the gathering with his short speech about Smti. Indira Gandhi and her role in nation building. The Programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mr. Sanjiv of IGNOU Regional Centre.
