Port Blair, Feb 20: The ATR commuter, Motorists and residents of North and Middle Andaman are enduring untold suffering because of the pathetic condition of NH4 from Kalara Junction to Sitanagar Panchayat Chowk area.
Adding to the pain because of recent rain the under construction NH4 stretch has become an accident-prone area. The General Public alleged that due to the unplanned working style of NHIDCL and lack of proper supervision, the general public are suffering heavily.
Looking at the photographs of the present condition of the NH4 stretch, one can only imagine how much the general public are suffering, especially pregnant ladies, senior citizens, and children. Easy movement of vehicles from this road has been disrupted, which is also causing huge traffic jams on the road.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted Mr. Ram Kelaneya the General Manager of NHIDCL, Mayabunder, he said that the construction work of road from Kalra junction has been just commenced, a lot of portions are under construction due to which one can see a lot of mud on the road surface. He added that because of untimely rain people are facing this problem.
“Lot of disruption in vehicle movement has been reported from this area, we are aware of the problem and teams have been deployed in that area to help commuters. The contractors who have been working have been told to take additional precautions by using additional materials and sending the existing diversion and placing some equipment to recover heavy vehicles,” he said.
“One should not worry that Diglipur people are left high and dry without any support from the NHIDCL. Work is going on full-fledged and will soon be completed, some inconvenience may occur which we will try to minimize,” he added.
