Port Blair, Feb 10: The Bharatiya Janta Party, Andaman and Nicobar State Unit today declared name of candidates for upcoming elections for Port Blair Municipal Council.
As per the list Mr. B.Hema Rao has been given ticket to contest election from Ward Number -1, Mr. Someshwar Rao for Ward Number 2, Mr. Hassan Ali for Ward Number 3, Mr. S Balaji for Ward Number -4, Mrs. Geeta Kandaswamy for Ward Number 5, Mr. Aziz-ul – Rehman for Ward Number 6, Mrs. Seema Singh Ward Number 7, Mrs. M Rekha Ward Number 8, Mr. T Harees Kumar for Ward Number 9, Mrs. Sheela Singh for Ward Number 10, Mrs. Vinita Malholtra for Ward Number 11, Mr. Amal Rani for Ward Number 12, Mr. Ajay Raj Singh for Ward Number 13, Mr. J Balakrishna for Ward Number 14, Mr. B Padmanabham for Ward number 15, Mr. K Karunanidhi for Ward Number 16, Mr. Dharmender Narayan for Ward Number 17, Rajesh Pal Govind for Ward Number 18, Mr. N Venkat Ramanna for Ward Number 19, Mrs. V Pandi Selvi for Ward Number 20, Mrs. A Selva Rani for Ward Number 21, Mr. Rajesh Ram for Ward Number 22, Mrs. Madhu Lal for Ward Number 23 and Mrs. Kavitha Udhaya Kumar for Ward Number 24.
Among these 24 candidates eight candidates are ex-councillors of Port Blair Municipal Council while one candidate is ex-pradhan.
As per Election Commissioner, A & N Islands, the Municipal and Panchayat elections in Andaman and Nicobar Islands will be held on 6th March 2022 (Sunday) and the results will be declared on 8th March 2022 (Tuesday).
As per details, the polling date for the Municipal and Panchayat elections is 6th March 2022, while the last date for making nominations is 11th Feb 2022 (Friday).
The date for scrutiny of nominations is 12th Feb 2022, while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is 14th Feb 2022. The date of counting of votes will be on 8th March 2022(Tuesday).
Earlier in this regard, the Bharatiya Janata Party, A&N Islands organized a press meet in the afternoon, which was addressed by Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, BJP, Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member and Former State President, BJP and Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Former Member of Parliament, ANI.
Addressing the Press Conference Mr. Ajoy Bairagi said that the list of candidates for all 24 wards is finalized and BJP is confident enough to win this upcoming Municipal Election. He added that under the BJP Center Government, historic developments have taken place in these Islands.
Mr. Vishal Jolly said that there is a positive wave for BJP in these Islands and asked for more support from the Islanders. He mentioned that with the help of suggestion boxes all over the wards BJP will connect to the Islanders and address their grievances.
Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray in his address requested all the Islanders to vote for BJP in the upcoming Municipal Election for the development of these Islands.
