Port Blair, Feb 03: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands today organised a Press Conference at Hotel Divyum Manor, Port Blair which was addressed by Mr. Dilip Saikia, National General Secretary and Election In-Charge (Prabhari), Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Asish Sood, National Executive Member and Co-Prabhari, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Ex-Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member, Former State President, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Chairman, Election Management Committee, Panchayat & Municipal Elections 2022.
The press conference was organised to interact with the scribes on the upcoming local body elections in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Dilip Saikia, National General Secretary and Election In-Charge (Prabhari), Andaman and Nicobar Islands spoke to the scribes about the Union Budget 2022-2023. Mr. Dilip emphasised on the increase in budget allocation to Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the commitment of the central Govt. to develop Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He reminded the scribes about the recent visit of the Home Minister of India to the Islands and the plethora of development projects for which the foundations were laid. Mr. Dilip Saikia also added that after the elections when BJP comes to power in Port Blair Municipal Council, BJP will install Free WIFI all over PBMC area to make the city smarter.
Mr. Asish Sood, National Executive Member and Co-Prabhari, Andaman and Nicobar Islands spoke to the journalists about the upcoming local body elections and informed them that very soon Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands will start a campaign to invite suggestions from the general public to decide the developmental trajectory of the Islands.
Mr. Asish Sood also informed the scribes that a meeting will also be called by the BJP where intellectuals will be invited to suggest the trajectory for the development of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi while addressing the press informed the various developmental measures BJP wishes to take up after the local body elections. Mr. Bairagi also informed that ‘Mera Andaman Mera Sujhav’ will benefit the people immensely as they will be able to suggest the development they wish to see in the Islands. Mr. Ajoy Bairagi also thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and Hon’ble Minister of Finance for the people-friendly budget targeted at making India Atmanirbhar.
Mr. Vishal Jolly while speaking to the press informed that the Aspiration Box which will be installed at public places to invite suggestions is not just for the manifesto of the party, but the suggestions received will decide the development trajectory of the Islands. Mr. Jolly further added that BJP shall govern the local bodies after elections with the support of the public. He also thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and Hon’ble Minister of Finance for the people-friendly budget. He added that the budget is aimed at making an Atmanirbhar Bharat and will immensely help the lower strata of the society by providing self-employment opportunities.
Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Ex-Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands took on the Congress and the Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and said that they have done nothing for the development of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mr. Ray explained the various steps taken by the Modi Govt. for the development of the Islands and said that BJP will usher a new era of development after the local body elections.
The press conference concluded after the scribes posed various questions to the leaders on developmental issues, Central Govt. Schemes, the state of Andaman and Nicobar Islands etc.
