Port Blair, Jan 12: After achieving 100% vaccination of eligible adults in the district, N&M Andaman is covering the children in the age group of 15-18 yrs. on a fast track basis. Almost 70% of children in the age group 15-18 yrs. have been inoculated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination. Further, the ‘precaution dose’ has been started to be administered to frontline workers and persons over 60 years of age.
A team of officials has been ordered for deployment for screening of all inbound and outbound passengers in the district i.e. Jetties and Helipads at Mayabunder, Diglipur, and the entry point at Baratang as per the COVID-19 surveillance guidelines.
Further District Control room for COVID-19 has been activated and teams of officials have been deployed 24×7 to cater to any emergencies, queries, and assistance. The district control room no. is 03192-262924/03192-273011.
Teams of surveillance of ILI/SARI symptoms have been constituted as per the National Directives for monitoring, follow-up, and daily ground reporting to enable the District Administration to keep a close watch on the probable spread of COVID-19 and emerging trend thereafter. A robust reporting mechanism has been put in place to respond effectively and efficiently to the demands of the situaton.
Restrictions have been imposed in the district to ensure compliance with the graded containment measures. The five-fold strategy of testing, tracking, surveillance, clinical management, vaccination, and COVID appropriate behavior is being adhered to in view of possible surge of COVID-19 cases.
The public is appealed to co-operate with the administration and voluntarily adhere to the COVID appropriate behavior and follow the enforcement orders strictly.
