Port Blair, Dec 29: District Child Protection Unit under District Administration, South Andaman in collaboration with Police Department conducted an awareness programme at Govt Senior Secondary School, Garacharma on 29th December 2021 for the students on the Topic “POCSO Act 2012”. The main aim of conducting the program is to sensitize children on POCSO related issues as child Sexual Abuse is a major concern which is increasing day by day and children being most vulnerable section of the society are susceptible to physical and psychological abuse.
The police professionals were the resource persons of the programme. They highlighted about POCSO Act, and sensitized the children on special provisions of legislations and encouraged them to stand up for their own safety and security in order to prevent crime against children.
Similar program were also conducted at Govt Senior Secondary School Junglighat and Govt Middle School Dollygunj. Altogether, 150 children were benefitted through the programme.
The District Administration looks forward for more such positive ventures in future to educate children towards their Protection and better future.
