Port Blair, Dec 29: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded development of Model Fishermen Village at Durgapur in Diglipur Tehsil under Central Sponsored scheme and allotment of land to the eligible beneficiaries.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration the Member of Parliament mentioned that some extent of land was allotted by the Administration at Durgapur during the year 2012 and thereafter in the year 2014 the committee constitute for the purpose has identified total 30 numbers eligible beneficiaries and recommended their names for onward action for their settlement in the land under the scheme. However, as per fishermen no further action was taken in this regard.
The Member of Parliament in his letter requested the Chief Secretary to direct the nodal department of the Administration to redress the grievances of the N&M District Fisheries Coop. Federation and to ensure implementation of the scheme as per guidelines/rules at the earliest.
