Port Blair, Dec 22: Today the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kamorta in collaboration with Education Department, Nancowrie organized Education and Motivational Programme on Catch the rain at Govt. Model Secondary School, Kamorta in order to make aware and sensitize village communities on water conservation, rain water harvesting, minimizing wastage and reuse of water under the second phase Catch the rain campaign. Altogether 100 students as well as youths participated in the programme. On the occasion Mr. Moses, Assistant Education Officer (incharge), Nancowrie was the chief guest. Smti Ranu Mondal, GTT delivered speech on the need of water conservation and harvesting while Mr. Sriniwas, PST stressed on minimizing wastage and re use of water. Mr. Alphonce Toppo, Deputy Director (OSD), NYK, Kamorta emphasized on to make awareness and to assume lead role in educating village communities.
On the occasion the prizes for the first, second and third were distributed by the chief guest and other resource persons among students for the drawing competition, essay competition, quiz competition, slogan competition, poster making competition and painting competition conducted in last days at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Champin and Govt. Model Secondary School, Kamorta. Finally oath taking on water conservation was also administered.
