Port Blair, Dec 20: Movement of dogs and cattle on road can cause a variety of issues affecting the normal life of residents of a particular locality. PBMC routinely handles complaints of stray animals. These stray animals not only disrupt the harmony of the locality but are also hazardous to humans. Cases of road accidents and dog bites have been reported.
In this connection, all dog and cattle owners within the municipal jurisdiction are hereby strictly warned to keep their animals restrained and away from road and other public spaces, failing which, the animals would be impounded and very heavy fines ranging from Rs.2500/- and above will be imposed on their owners as applicable under the Municipal Laws and Waste Management Rules etc. It is reiterated that it is sole responsibility of the owners of the animal that the animal is restrained. Public is strictly hereby warned to ensure that their animals stay away from all public spaces.
