Diglipur, Dec. 17: The Congress Party of India, Congress District Committee held a meeting in Diglipur in the evening today to mark the 50th Anniversary of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971- “Tribute to the Martyr’s of Indian Soldiers and their Family” Salute them.
In his address, Mr. Ujjal Das, Secretary of the Congress District Committee said that the BJP know how to break things and doesn’t know how to build things. Earlier there were a number of boats/ships regularly plying in the inter islands especially from Port Blair to Diglipur and vice versa but now there is boat service but it is highly irregular. Condemning the BJP govt. he also alleged that, the administration should take all initiatives to consolidate Marine Dept. of A & N Administration but to its contrary, the BJP govt.’s interest is to reach benefit to the SCI thereby destroying the job opportunities for the youths of these islands.
Hailing Ex-Prime Mininster Smti Indira Gandhi, Mr. Madhai Murshid, newly elected District President of the party said that it was Smti Indra Gandhi who endorsed the political theory of Sheikh Mujibar Rahman and helped East Pakistan get its independence from the West Pakistan. He also praised the martyrdom of the Indian Soldiers who laid their lives in the battle against the Pakistan.
Secretary of the Congress District Committee, Mr. Samar Paul said in his address that, irrespective of political parties, people of India reposed faith in the BJP and voted for the party in expectation that it would bring prosperity to them and to the nation, but the BJP govt. failed at every front, he alleged. He then leading a withering attack on the electricity dept.’s wrong policy in which a person can’t directly transfer his deceased father’s/husband’s electric meter connection to his/her name, and for this the person will have to freshly apply for electric meter connection with the remittance required fees which is really unfortunate and untenable, he said.
Mr. Sunil Paramanick, newly elected Block President of the party speaking on the occasion of 50th Anniversary of Bangladesh Liberation, said that it was timely intervention of Ex-Prime Minister Smti Indra Gandhi of India who helped form the Mukti Vahini and liberated Bangladesh from Pakistan.
He then raised a plethora of issues and failures of the BJP govt. Leading a scathing attack on the A & N Administration, he said that the administration was proven to be more cruel than the British rulers. He alleged that, A & N Administration was harsh on the common and the poor people and inflicted undesired treatments on them. Instances were that patients were also returned from the barricade and were not allowed to take medical care/help during COVID-19 pandemic situation, he alleged. He further alleged that, it was also found that poor peasants working in the fields were too challaned by the concerned govt. staff and which was unexpected in any Independent Nation. He further said, Mr. Kuldip Rai Sharma is putting his all efforts towards hundred percent job reservation for the aspirants of these islands and arrest the current process of induction of govt. staff from the mainland. He further alleged that, A & N Administration is on a policy of absorbing the aspirants of these islands on contractual basis and is not in a mood to fill the vacant posts as well as not interested in creating new posts thereby pushing the youths of these islands into the dark future. The STS buses plying inter and intra districts are in ramshackle condition which are not providing service but are posing only health hazards, he claimed. Rebutting all allegations against the lone MP of these islands that he is not visiting N & M Andaman District, he said that Mr. Kuldip Rai Sharma is fighting for the introduction of the Pradesh Council or Assembly in our islands so that officialdom and its affliction on the poor and common people of these islands can be checked. The MP is also trying his level best to see that the flight between Diglipur and Port Blair commences soon, Mr. Paramanick asserted. Criticizing the Modi Govt.’s Kissan Yojna in which the Prime Minister claimed to double the common farmer’s income, Mr. Paramanick said that the farmers are in miserable condition.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of a veteran Congress Party leader Mr. Haren Roy.
