Port Blair, Dec 12: The 2nd Port Blair Open Chess Tournament 2021 was organised by the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) on Sunday at Community Hall, Dairy Farm, Ward No.14. Around 80 players of various age groups were participated in the event. Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, Secretary Education & Sports Andaman & Nicobar Administration was the chief in the inaugural ceremony who made the first Move on the top board to kick start the event in presence of Mr G. Bhasker, Patron & Mr C.S. Ashok, President of ANCA who graced occasion as the guests of honour.
In her address the chief guest lauded the efforts of Andaman Nicobar Chess Association in promoting chess in the A & N Islands and assured all possible help from Sports department for further development of the game of chess. The tournament was held in Rapid mode over 6 rounds in which P S Satish adjudged as the winner of the tournament, R Kashthuri bhai stood second, M Sanjay Kumar secured third and Shailender Singh secured fourth position . The top four players in open section were awarded with Trophies and certificates. The two best players from boys and girls in U-08, U- 10, U-12 and U 14 were also awarded with trophies and certificates. Prizes were also given to the best veteran and youngest player.
