Port Blair, Dec 09: A three days hands on training programme on Entrepreneurship development of Tribal farming community through value added poultry products was organized at Division of Animal Science, ICAR-CIARI. The programme was organized in commemoration of AzadikaAmrutMahotsav- India@75from 6-8thDecember, 2021 under the guidance of Dr E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
A total of 16 Nicobariyouth including 12 girls from Dollygunj and Vikas Nagar participated in this programme. Dr E.B. Chakurkar, Director motivated the participants to learn all the skills to prepare value added products to establish their own business. He informed that ICAR-CIARI is ready to support them in all possible ways to initiate product preparation in a team mode. He assured them for the technical guidance from Scientists of CIARI.
Dr. Jai Sunder, Pr.Scientist &I/c HoD (Animal Science Division)stressed on to have establish market linkage with restaurants and to form a group to set up the micro entrepreneurship on product preparation that will be a successful employment avenue for the young generation. During the three days programme, participants were given practical hands on training to prepare value added products such as quail egg pickle, quail meat tandoori, sausage from chicken and duck meat, nuggets, chicken meat pickle under the technical guidance by Dr.T.Sujatha, Sr.Scientist. Subsequently sensory evaluation of products prepared by the trainees was conducted by a team of Scientists, Dr. P. A. Bala, Dr.A.K.De, Dr.P.Perumal and Dr.R.R.Alyethodi. The participants expressed that they are ready to take up on commercial scale and work on it and requested for more skill development programmes.
