Port Blair, Dec 03: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Dec 4 to Dec 8. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days in Andaman and in Nicobar Islands. The maximum temperature will be 28.0 to 30.9 oC with minimum temperature of 22.1 to 24.3 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 62 to 80 % and 58 to 77 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 13.4 to 22.9 kmph is expected mostly from South Easterly direction. In South Andaman (Blocks: Prothrapur, Little-Andaman and Ferrargunj), farmers have been advised to harvest the matured paddy and dry it immediately to safe moisture level as the weather is likely to be conducive, provide drainage channel in vegetable field as well as nursery to drain out rain water, raise nursery of tomato @ 500 g/ha of seeds in the tray or in the field with good drainage facility, remove the rotten and infected fruits from bhendi field and cucurbits and destroy it and keep the poultry birds (day old chicks) under light preferably of 60 watt bulb at 1 ft above the floor.
