Port Blair, Nov 30: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Dec 1 to Dec 5. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate to very heavy rainfall in the next five days in Andaman and in Nicobar Islands. The maximum temperature will be 29.2 to 31.5 oC with minimum temperature of 22.9 to 24.6 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 76 to 82 % and 67 to 79 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 13.0 to 48.8 kmph is expected mostly from South Easterly direction. In South Andaman (Blocks: Prothrapur, Little-Andaman and Ferrargunj), farmers have been advised to avoid open sundry of harvested paddy as heavy rainfall is expected during 2nd and 3rd Dec 2021, harvest all the matured vegetables and take it to the nearby market to avoid losses due to rain, do propping to the fruit bearing papaya and banana plants, specially grown in upland and embankments of ponds, place net around the pond and keep open the bunds to remove excess water as heavy rainfall is expected and keep the poultry litter dry during wet condition to avoid infection and mortality.
