
Port Blair, Nov 29: The Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) coordinated the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp which was organized by INS Kumbhir, Port Blair on 26th November 2021 at INS Kumbhir, Port Blair As part of Navy Week. A total of 57 Defence personnel voluntarily donated blood and participated for this noble cause.
The camp was organized under the leadership of Dr M. Joy, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society and Director, State Blood Transfusion Council, A & N Islands. Dr Avijit Roy, Deputy Director (Health), Director of Health Services was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the camp.
The Blood Donation was facilitated by the Dr. Ganesh Samadder, CMO (NFSG), Blood Bank, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair. The donors were examined for their eligibility to donate blood and briefed the donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation. Voluntary Blood donation is the best way to celebrate any occasion. Blood has no replacement and is the best gift to mankind. He motivated all voluntary blood donors to donate blood fearlessly in the forthcoming camp with all covid-19 protocols.
Augastin Raja, Lieutenant Commander Executive Officer for Commanding Officer, INS Kumbhir C/o. Navy Office, Port Blair to organized the camp and made arrangement for conducting the camp successfully.
The technical team from Blood Bank, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair and A & N AIDS Control Society ensured that the donated blood units are screened for the blood transmissible diseases. They also examined the donors for eligibility. Donors certificates were also distributed to the voluntary donors.
