Port Blair, Nov 26: The ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair conducted an awareness programme on “Scope of Diversified Value-added Fishery Products in Islands” on Friday at Kanyapuram Village, South Andaman. The programme was conducted under the Chairmanship of Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI and funded by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Port Blair. Different aspects of fish processing, good management practices, candidate species for value addition, and the scope of diversified value-added fishery products were sensitized by the team consisting of Ms. Deepitha R.P., Dr. R. Kiruba Sankar, Dr.K. Saravanan and Mr.J. Praveenraj. Further, different value-added fishery products prepared were displayed to the participants. A total of 26 women stakeholders have participated and benefitted from the programme.
