
Port Blair, Nov 14: The brave fire fighters of A&N Police Fire Service averted a major fire mishap in the city by timely intervention and prompt action. On 13/11/2021 , late in the evening a fire call message was received from Police Control Room stating that a fire broke out in a Air Cargo building, Port Blair. Promptly fire tenders from Fire Station Aberdeen were pressed into action. A huge blaze with dense smoke was emanating from the air cargo building when fire personnel reached the spot. Reinforcement was later called in after assessing the ground situation.
Due the out standing team work of Andaman and Nicobar Fire personnel , prompt response, skill and professionalism the fast spreading fire at cargo complex was doused after a lengthy fire fighting operation that lasted for more than an hour. Around 03 Water Tenders, 01 Water Bouzer, 01 Water Mist Tender & 01 Multi Utility vehicle were utilized. Yet again the A&N Police Fire Service proved their mettle and good workmanship in saving property worth crores of rupees and averted a major fire mishap that had emanated from a short circuit and had spread wildly.
The entire fire fighting operation was carried out by the staff of Fire Station Aberdeen and Marine under the team led by Inspector Fire Service (HQ), S. Sadhukhan under the overall supervision of Ms. Sandhya Swamy, IPS Superintendent of Police (Fire), A&N Islands.
General public is advised to be well aware of fire safety rules so as to prevent any major mishap as even a small spark can have a snowball effect .
