Port Blair, Nov 11: Nearly 100 drivers of Mini Cargo, affiliated to Mini Cargo Driver Sangh, have expressed deep resentment over the move of PBMC to charge parking fees from them for parking their cargo van in cargo van parking area of Bhatu Basti.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, Mr. K Murty, President, Mini Cargo Driver Sangh today said that since last 12 Years they have been parking their vehicles in the same area and suddenly today one contractor of PBMC started asking for parking fees.
“Already due to lockdown we have suffered heavily in last several months, now how can we pay parking fees,” said Mr. Murty.
The Truck Drivers demanded that either the PBMC should waive off the parking fees for the Mini Cargo Drivers or they should be provided with another parking area by PBMC.
“During initial days the truck driver played a major role in developing this parking area and they cleared the land. Since last 12 years they are parking their vehicles here. How come all of a sudden PBMC force these drivers to pay parking fees,” questioned Mr. Srinivasa a social worker.
